In 1942, one of the only known films about the Warsaw ghetto was shot. Scenes of Jewish life were documented. For decades, this footage was presented as truth ... until forty years later when a missing reel was discovered. A Film Unfinished presents the raw footage, carefully noting fictionalized sequences, and probes deep into the making of a now-infamous Nazi propaganda film.

Yisrael Campbell looks more like a rabbi than a comedian, but don't be fooled by the big black hat, frock coat and Hasidic side-curls. Born Chris Campbell, the son of an ex-nun and a Catholic school teacher, he converted to Judaism not once, but three times - Reform, Conservative and Orthodox. His spiritual journey began as a drug-drenched teenager in Philly and ended in Jerusalem among suicide bombs. So what's to laugh about? It's the way he tells it. This is a hilarious, searching story of one man's quest for spiritual enlightenment against the bewildering backdrop of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Matzo & Mistletoe is a cinematic essay filled with heart, humor and Klezmer Christmas carols. Filmmaker Kate Feiffer (daughter of famed cartoonist, Jules) asks and attempts to answer the question, "What does it mean to be a non–practicing Jew in America?" Does it mean celebrating Christmas instead of Chanukah and eating pork–fried rice with your gentile spouse? Or does it mean acting as an unwitting accomplice in what has been called a “silent Holocaust?” In her search for answers, Feiffer talks with family, friends, newsman Mike Wallace, Alan Dershowitz and others.

Stationed in a Bulgarian village in 1943, Walter, an artistic German army corporal, and his superior, live an idyllic life far from the war. One day, a transit camp is set up for Jews from Greece. When Ruth, a Greek Jew, pleads with Walter to help a pregnant woman in the camp, her dignity and hope make Walter question his own complacency and the genocidal policies in which he is asked to participate. This newly re-released film challenged post-war conventions by portraying Bulgarian collaboration and a love story between a German corporal and a Jewish woman. The title alludes to both the Star of David, which marked a people's fate, and the stars of the night sky as symbols of hope. FilmTalk w/ Skyler J. This love story provides an engaging, fresh angle on life in Germany during the rise and fall of the Third Reich. Despite the menacing socio-political forces looming at the time, romance blossoms between Helmuth, a German soldier, and Jutta, the narrator, who as a teenager is shocked to learn that she is half Jewish. Helmuth joins the Valkyrie plot to assassinate Hitler, but with the failure of the plot comes a series of harrowing events as the couple is pursued by the Nazi machine. Narrated in vivid detail and supported by fascinating archival footage, this uplifting film grips our attention with a perfect confluence of romantic narrative, tense wartime story, and eye-opening links to monumental historical events.
